Than anybody/than from anybody

1-I learned more from him than anybody.

Is this sentence ambiguous:

Meaning a: I learned more from him than anybody else did. Nobody learned from him more than I did.
Meaning b: I learned more from him than from anybody else.

I would never use sentence 1 for Meaning b. I would always include 'from'. But I think some people use it that way.

I would never use the original sentence in the way it is and would use 'anybody else' instead of 'anybody', but again, I think
some people do use it that way.

Gratefully,
Navi.
