1) He stood with his back to the wall. Il se tenait / était debout le dos contre le mur.
2) Il était le dos au mur. = He had his back to the wall ??
3) Il m'a convaincu de l'acheter. a) He persuaded me to buy it. b) He convinced me / He asked me into buying it.
4) Une fois qu'elle eut terminé, elle alla se coucher. a) She went to bed when she had finished. b) Once she had finished, she went to bed.
