Th wod 'pun'

I tried looking up the word 'pun' in a dictionary but it only confused me, can someone please tell me what it means? Does it have anything to do with sarcasm? and also what does it mean when someone says "pun intended" or "no pun intended".

I wouldn't say that there's a relationship between puns and sarcasm. Certain puns may in fact be sarcastic, but that's not an essential part of it. Puns must usually be spoken aloud in order to be effective.
