Question

I tried looking up the word 'pun' in a dictionary but it only confused me, can someone please tell me what it means? Does it have anything to do with sarcasm? and also what does it mean when someone says "pun intended" or "no pun intended".

I wouldn't say that there's a relationship between puns and sarcasm. Certain puns may in fact be sarcastic, but that's not an essential part of it.

Puns must usually be spoken aloud in order to be effective. There are many homonyms in English, and a legitimate phrase may contain one or more such words which allow the phrase to be misinterpreted in a humorous way.
When this happens, a clever speaker is usually aware of it. He may wish to call public attention to his cleverness by saying "No pun intended"; or he may feel the humorous meaning has some application to the occasion, and he'll say "Pun intended."
