Text correction

Hi I am looking for someone who would be so kind to check how well is the following text written. I am developing a computer game and following text is an intro dialogue to the game. Mainly I would like to know how it sounds to a english native speaker and secondly I like to know if there are some errors.

I am a doctor Matthew Carter. I am a geologist in this crew. This is 126^th day of our flight in the Poseidon 8 and this is my first report. We take awake routines every month. Every routine two of us are woken from hibernation to check if everything is all right. We are equipped with new prototype hyper-space engine which should transport us twice as fast as previous version. So I am hoping to see my children to be still children when we come back to Earth. Anyway our mission is to gather information about our nearest neighbouring star, the Alpha Centauri. I am not hoping to find there life but we could find unknown substances with interesting properties. I have done all common maintenance like cleaning kitchen. The technical side of maintenance was taken care by Daniel our second pilot. Daniel has already gone to hibernation and I will soon join him. Over.

Doctor Carter, can you hear me?

Yes ship computer… I can hear you Alice. Why are all hibernation capsules open?

There has been an accident. Hyper-space engine has malfunctioned and whole crew had to be evacuated. However your capsule did not open and crew had to leave you on the ship. Bad news is that we have almost no fuel left and I have no information about how long we have been traveling since evacuation. Good news is that engine uses special kind of crystals and I am detecting signal which they radiate on some planets. I did a survey and 6 planets in this system have the potential for us.
