Tests and examinations are a central feature of school systems in many countries. Do you think the educational benefits of testing outweigh any disadvantages?
Nowadays, many schools in the world use tests and examinations as a central feature of their education systems. While this major educational feature has some drawbacks, I personally believe that the benefits are greater.
On the one hand, there are some disadvantages of testing and examining systems. Firstly, tests and examinations make students feel more pressure besides the acquisition of difficult knowledge in school. Each country has different methods and their conceptions about education so sometimes all of these result in a high suicide rate among students because of poor test results and social pressure. Secondly, tests and examinations also lead to mental illnesses so after the long stress period, students will not be keen on studying anymore and reduce the effectiveness of the reception.
On the other hand, it is indisputable that tests and examinations bring abundant advantages. The best application of these is the evaluation of a student's understanding ability in this subject and finding the most suitable way to improve the performance later. In addition, the result exam is easy to rank the level of students and then teachers and parents will know more about their children’s ability and focus on the strength and improve the weakness in order to have comprehensive development. Furthermore, the score's competitiveness motivates students to learn harder so that it can enhance the quality of the population in general and help their countries become more developed and prosperous.
In conclusion, while there are some disadvantages, I think the advantages of tests and examinations in moderation outweigh and these are necessary not only for the development of students but also for society and countries. Moreover, help from schools and families contributes to the development of education and reduces the problem of students.
