The diagram illustrates the manufacturing of chocolate.

In general, there are ten main stages in the process, commencing with the preparation of raw ingredients to the completion of the final product.

The initial stage involves workers at cacao tree groves indigenous to South America, Africa, and Indonesia hand-picking the ripe red pods, which are removed their skins and then are broken into halves so that the white cacao beans can be collected. In the next step, the harvested beans are sent to a receptacle covered with plenty leaves where they are fermented. After the fermentation process, the subsequent step is let them expose to the light of the sun, before diving them into large sacks.

The process continues when these packages are delivered by train or lorry to the factory. Once undergone a roasting phase at 350 degrees centigrade, these beans are transferred to a relatively flat, cylindrical grinder to be crushed, with outer shells being taken away. The resulting inner part beans are pressed into liquid chocolate by pressing machine.
