Tertiary burns

Hi

I am aware that the word tertiary means "third in order, rank or importance" -- but when we say "tertiary burns" -- [she  received tertiary burns in the accident] -- does it mean that she  received the "first degree burns" or the "third degree burns"?

In other words, "of the highest degree" or "of the lowest".

Thanks for your time,

Tom

"Third degree burns".

Hi Mr. Tom;

I have never seen the term "tertiary burns" with regard to burns to the skin by fire or chemicals.
The only connection relates to a hospital facility that is specialized for treating patients with severe burns.
