Terminable offense

"Consuming alcoholic beverages on the job is a terminable offense."

I hear 'terminable offense' all the time. Is this acceptable usage?

Top answer

It's acceptable, but I'm not sure how common it is. It means that you can be fired (terminated) from your job if caught drinking while on duty.
