Hi
My parents told me that if I wanted to learn how to play the drums I had to finance it myself. So I did. It was nine pounds a term. After some time I earned enough to pay for the first term myself, and my father paid for the second and term.
---I know that there are terms in school, usually two terms a year, but I'm not sure what terms the author is writing about, are these the same terms as at school?Maybe a "term" here is a single lesson?

It would be some standard length of time, not a single lesson. If the lessons were given in connection with a school, it would be as you suggested. My pregnancy went full term.
