tenses in sentence with "such that" and "in which"

i'm writing a research paper and i have a question.
is it true to use different tenses in sentence with conjunctions such as "such that" or "in which". for example the following sentence is true?
"Jim proposed a method in which computational time is reduced"
tense of the sentence is past, however, tense of the "in which" is not past.

In my opinion, the tense difference is fine. Of course it would also be okay to backshift. " Also, the computational time could be reduced on paper or in real time.

You could even say, "Jim proposed a method in which computational time would be reduced."

The time at which he proposed it is not necessarily the time at which the "computational time is reduced."
