Any differences between the followings?

How long have you worn braces? Since I was 10.

How long have you been wearing braces? Since I was 10.

Before the the Titanic disaster, the world hadn't witnessed the sinking of such a ship.

Before the the Titanic disaster, the world didn't witness the sinking of such a ship.
