Tenses for a review

Hi, let us pretend that I am going to write a review of a sort after reading a passage of the Bible. Are these tenses correct?

He went on great detail to record what had done and has done a superb job of writing things that has expired. The characters in the story lived for a long time and had to endure various hardships but came out a winner at the end. This passage has been an inspiration for me in that it inspired me to go out and spread the good news.
