Tenses.

Hello! Please tell me which of the two sentence is correct, also is the tense is right.

1. They have been shopping yesterday. - present perfect continuous tense?

2. They had been shopping yesterday. - past perfect continuous tense.?

What are you trying to say that is different from simply "They went shopping yesterday"? "yesterday" is not recent/current enough to suit "have been". Since "yesterday" is relative to now, you would not normally use it with "had been", which is relative to a time in the past.
