Tenses

It is being told to us that we can use present progressive for the situation that there is an arrangement or intention to talk about FUTURE.

So why don’t we use future tense( be going to) as one of its main usages is talking about PLANED actions for the future(correct me if I am wrong).

I am visiting my friend tomorrow.

I am going to visit my friend tomorrow.

They are coming to our house on Saturday.

They are going to come to our house on Saturday.
