Tenses

do we have to memorize the tenses and its rules or is there any explanation behind it.

for example for simple present we use "I eat food".

and for simple "i am eating food" why did we not use "i eating food"

and is there any explanation behind the rules or i just memorize them and then apply them

if there are explanations please tell me where i can find them

Hi, The normal approach for English learners is simply to memorize te form of ezch tense. Explanations as to how these forms evolved are of interest mainly to students of the history of the English language and of English linguistics. In other words, it's an advanced topic.

If you are referring to the forms themselves, I don't know any other way of learning them except to memorize them. Your textbooks should be giving you the information necessary to see the pattern of the forms. Here's a sample of parts of the conjugation of "take".
