Tenses

Can you use two different tenses in the same sentence. For example,

"I had not seen him in ten years, however I will miss him forever."

Top answer

Those two do not go well together, since the choice of past perfect has no basis and 'forever' is unnecessarily hyperbolic, but the answer to your question is 'Yes, indeed': I ate muesli for breakfast yesterday, I'm eating it now, and I'll have it again tomorrow morning.
