Tenses

Hi group,

Which one of these two answers is correct in terms of tenses?

Q. How would you handle an employee who doesn't show-up for work for two days in a row, doesn't call, and then on the third day he comes back to work without any reasonable excuse?

A. I would first issue him a show-cause letter and seek for a reply in 48hrs, then if his excuse wasn't acceptable, then I would suspend him for two weeks and hold a domestic inquiry. Finally, I would leave it to the tribunal to decide on the necessary action.

Would you mind explanning as to why this is better than the other.

Hi,

You need 'would' because the whole matter is conditional. Consider the original question: How would you handle an employee . . .

Is that enough explanation?
