Tense Usage

My friend found the glasses I had lost. I said" I have been looking for them for an hour." Did I say it correctly or should I have said " I had been looking."

". " seems a bit fussy for something so recent, even if it does precede the finding. If you were talking about events further back in the past, then yes.

"I have been ..." is OK there, though in conversation it would usually be contracted to "I've been ...".

"I had been ..." seems a bit fussy for something so recent, even if it does precede the finding. If you were talking about events further back in the past, then yes. "Last week my friend found my glasses. I had been looking for them for days."
