Tense to indicate the present state

Hi. Which tense should we use in the following situations?

1. (writing a letter to a close relative) Hello, John (Q: Is a comma here correct?). How have you been? I miss (Q: Should it be "am missing"?) you and that is why I am writing this letter. I think we haven't writtent to each other for a good three monthes and that seems to be too long a time not to communicate between good relatives like us (ha. ha.) (Q: Should the words in parentheses be capitalized?).

2. (writing a letter to a close relative) Hello, John. How have you been? I hope you have been doing well. I think of you (Q: should it be "thinking of you"?) and that is whay I am writing this letter.

The comma is correct. "miss" (present tense) is correct.

I think Ha Ha is discretionary.

I think of you often. I think of you constantly. (simple present) These are fine.

I am thinking of you at every momentis too much for me.

There should not be a comma after "hello". Thought one is needed after John.
