Tense slips - Confusion with tense usage

Hi guys,

While trying to report a graph to my lecturer, i stumbled upon some grammatical issues concerning different uses of tenses. Now could somebody tell me which of these 4 sentences is correct?

(1) The number of Internet users is increasing each year (Given a bar graph describing the number of users recorded from 2001 - 2005).

(2) The number of Internet has increased each year (Given a similar graph, with the ending year being 2011)

(3) By 2005, the number of Internet users had increased each year (Given the same graph as in (1))

(4) The number of Internet users increased each year for 5 years (same graph as in (1))

(5) The number of Internet users was increasing for 5 years (same graph as in (1))

Now i know we can use the Present Continuous to describe something that 's a part of a longer process or a trend (a changing stituation). But what's about the other tenses? Could you help me identify (any) wrong sentence amongst these 5? Thanks a lot !
