Tense shift

Today I had to write an english formal letter for my examination, but I didn't know whether this sentence was correct:

'I only was wondering whether you can choose which of the properties throughout the country you go to, if you can I would very much like to go somewhere near the beach.'

And especially the part where there seems to be a tense shift.

I don't see any problem with the tenses, but I would change the punctuation and word order. I was only wondering whether you can choose which of the properties throughout the country you go to ; if you can , I would very much like to go somewhere near the beach. I was only wondering whether you can choose which of the properties throughout the country you go to .
