Tense question

Hi,

which tense should I use in the following sentence, please?

I might just as well have stayed at home and nothing would change / have changed.

I'm not sure which tense to use as they both seem possible to me.

a) I would use "have changed" if I were telling a story which happened in the past, right?

b) I would use "change" in this sentence to imply that the act of changing somehow relates to the present. Things are still the same until now, correct?

Also, could I use "could" instead of "might"? I could as well have stayed...

Thank you in advance!
