Tense question

Hi,

Fewer people are going to work on foot.

My teacher said that this sentence was wrong, because "are going" is incorrect here. But I feel like it is more suitable that the simple tense. This is not a habitual activity, it is something that is happening around now. Is it correct, please? Thanks in advance.

If it is 'happening right now', that is, if you are talking about a current trend, then present continuous is a good choice.
