Tense problem

I'm not a native speaker, but I think 'have you heard of' is better and 'she had written' is more grammatical.

I would like to hear about other opinions too.

Would it be better to say "she had written..." only if the there was a continuation, such as "she had written more than 70 stories before her death.", or "she had written 70 stories before any of her contemperaries had written 50."?

Or does it matter?

"She wrote" to me sounds like it would be better if it was more simple and concise, such as "she wrote a lot of stories."
