"I was sitting in my room that I heard a sound, like someone is talking on the phone. Out of curiosity, I went to the balcony to see if someone is in the yard, and I saw no one. I could still hear him talking to someone, but I didn't find out who actually he is."
Is this use of present tense in narrating past events acceptable or is it regarded as inconsistency in tenses?
