Tense confusion

Hello Friends,

I am writing a short story to develop my skills. I have a small doubt regarding tense. This is one of the lines:

I became a good person. So would/will my friend someday.

Some people say maintain tense consistency and write past tense throughout - so 'would' is correct. Others say 'will' is correct for more emphasis, and also it extends into the future.

Which is appropriate?

Thank you, friends.

Anonymous Which is appropriate? It depends on which you mean. 'Would' refers to the future in the story but the past from now.
