Hi Clive
I have a doubt regarding the third sentence. Please tell me which is correct:

We hardly had gone a kilometer or so when the car broke down.
or
We had hardly gone a kilometer or so when the car broke down.

If both are correct, which is better?

Thank you,
Prajwal
