Grammar

tense

Hi, Please tell me if tenses are correct. I am uneasy about having one present perfect tense and the other in past tense? Is it OK? Should I make them both present perfect tenses?

Let me introduce Joe Doe. He was an officer of our organization for two years and he has done a lot of great things for us. Mr. Doe, would you come out?

You might prefer: 'used to be an officer...' and 'has done .....for us since.'

Hi, What is the difference between "was" and "used to" in the context to be used?

They are correct. But this is what you are saying:
He was an officer for two years some time ago (and then was no longer an officer for some time).
He has done a lot of great things for us continuing to do great things up until now.
Is that what you wanted to say?

There is know difference. "Used to" just sounds more grammatically correct in this situation

Yes, thank you. You read my mind -- that was what I wanted to say.
