Do the sentences below sound okay?
- The doctors were tending the wounded/The doctors were tending to the wounded.
- The nurse tended his wounds/The nurse tended to his wounds.
I lean toward "tend to", but I see that "tend" is used too. I think I'd almost always say "tend to one's wounds" and "tend to someone who's injured". Is there any difference in meaning and are both versions acceptable?
