Saturn is second largest planet after Jupiter, with a diameter nearly ten times that of Earth.

Is there any word that is missing there? Ten times as that of the Earth?

Hello PASTEL Again me! :) First of all, please remember we can say "twenty-four is four times six". Likewise we can say "The length of AB is three times that of CD".

  • Hello PASTEL Again me!
  • :) First of all, please remember we can say "twenty-four is four times six".
  • Likewise we can say "The length of AB is three times that of CD".
  • Now I'll parse your original sentence as: "Saturn is the second largest planet after Jupiter, with a diameter (which/that is) nearly ten times that of Earth".
  • Here "which/that is" can be dropped by a whiz-deletion.
