Grammar

ten thousans of people

Hello, everyone!

I am working on English grammar nowadays. It's really hard.

In fact, I have 2 questions.

1) In a few minutes, (a) tens of thousands of / (b) tens of thousands of people poured into the street.

Question: In the above sentence, which one is correct between (a) and (b)? Or, both are possible?

If both are possible, are the meanings same?

2) (c) A man came up to me and asked what was the matter wih me.

(d) A man came up to me and asked what the matter wih me was.

(e) A man came up to me and asked what the matter was with me.

Question; Which one among (c),(d) and (e) is correct? All of them or just one of them?

Pls, somebody help me!

Hi Jisu98,

'In sentence #1, both choices --(a) and (b)--have 'tens of thousands of'. Are you sure the question is correct?

Sorry, It was 'ten thousands of' means several (ten thousand)s .

For example, There are ten people. ( just ten) There are tens of people (more than ten)

My, question was, when it is 'ten thousand', why not just 'There are ten thousands of people' instead of 'There are tens of thousands of people.'

Sorry for late reply. I was not able to come to this site lately. Ho

I would say either There are ten thousand people (only 10 thousand) or There are tens of thousands of people (more than 10 thousand). I am not sure it is correct to say There are ten(s) thou
