Ten is all I got

I go to a shop.
I choose a item.
I ask a clerk about the price.
How much is it?
The clerk says "Fourty"
I say that ten is all I got.....

I am confused about "got"
Why is the past tense?
Instead of "got", can I use " get" or " have got"
I mean that ten is all I get or ten is all I have got.
Tell me the reason and the difference please.
