Could the phrase be "The tempo has been lost"? As in the rhythm of the football game?

IT could be

but could it be a idiom wth "tempo has been lost"

The only problem with 'the tempo has been lost' is that it reminds me of the much more common 'the momentum has been lost'. Otherwise, it makes sense. Neither is an idiom, but the latter ('the momentum has been lost') is a common phrase.
