Telling the time

Hi,

when I tell the time, eg 3:05 it is written as three o five. I wonderif it is pronounced as 'ou'. Is it a short form of 'nought'?

Thanks

I don't think it's a short form of "nought". I think it's just because the digit zero looks like the letter "o".
