Obvious as it is, 'tell' takes two complement structures. To my knowledge, there seems to be no real difference.

"weakest moment" is not something that is told.

You can tell me a story.
You can tell them a joke.
You can tell us a sad tale.

You can tell me about an experience, the time you went to the dentist, what happened yesterday, your job, or an interview.
