Vocabulary

telephone/call

Hi,

My English teacher says "Please give me a telephone this evening" means "Please call me this evening".

I think we should say "Please give me a telephone call this evening" if we want someone to call us by phone. Otherwise, it sounds like we want a telephone equipment.

Can we use the word, a telephone, in a way like this?

Thanks,
Rino

I too think the use of give makes it sound odd. telephone can be used as a verb and thus is OK. "

"Please telephone me this evening" and of course you can say "Please call me this evening."

In this case your teacher is wrong.
