Telephone conversation

Dear friends,

The reason i came to this website is so obvious to improve my communication skill to be more specific mobile/telephone conversations. I dont really feel that i had problem in communicating person directly but it is opposite while in mobile or telephone.

I can easily understand any dramas ,movies , tv shows etc still they have same accent ,speed. Also i tried to close my eyes and listened to conversation it is prety much easy and the same. My question is that why and what is the reason behind this and ways to improve. Am i acting weired or is it my illusion or is it the problem of my opponent at the other end.

Hello, shribalaji—and welcome to English Forums. For me it is very difficult to understand people on the telephone when I am speaking to other native speakers, including close friends and relatives. Also, I find it very difficult to continue a reasonable conversation.

  • I don't know why this is, precisely, but I dislike telephones so much that nowadays I do not answer our home phone (I have a tape that does that) and I do not have a mobile phone.
