1. Is it OK to say, "Can you remove my name from your telemarketing list"?

Hi Clive,

Indeed. Can you bear with them if they keep bugging you?

Thanks for the prompt replies.

One suggestion, MTL: keep talking to them. (1) Ask about their families and friends, their favorite cuisine and movies. In detail. Tell them about yours. In detail. Try to arrange to get together sometime. (2) Ask them if people can catch AIDS over the phone; (3) discuss the large canker sores on your pet iguana's underbelly; (4) ask them what colour underwear they are wearing.

Do 'telemarketing' and 'soliciting phone calls' mean the same thing?

Thanks,

Hi,

Do 'telemarketing' and 'soliciting phone calls' mean the same thing? In practice, I think of the latter as a particular form of telemarketing, where the person asks for your support for a charitable cause of some kind.

Best wishes, Clive
