TEFL module activity

For each activity or teaching technique, decide whether the focus is on meaning/use, form or pronunciation.

I am at a loss! Please could someone help me answer these as I really don't understand. I need to know which is Meaning, Form or Pronunciation. The dots on the side are Pronunciation Meaning and form

.

Concept Questions - The teacher asks the students the following questions:

  • What was the first example? (Ss reply, “They had their house renovated.”)
  1. Does the house look new? Emotion: yes
  2. Did they do the renovation themselves? Emotion: no
  3. Did they ask someone to fix it? Emotion: yes
  • What was the second example? ( “Susan had cleaned the house the day before.”)
  1. Was the house clean? Emotion: yes
  2. Did Susan clean it? Emotion: yes
  3. Did she ask someone to clean it? Emotion: no
  4. Did she tidy it before or after the renovation? (before)
2 .

Guess from Context - The example sentences include 3 sentences with ‘be going to + V’ (eg. They’re going to meet at the restaurant), and 3 sentences with ‘will + V’ (eg. Okay, I’ll call her when I get home). Using the text to help them, the students answer the following question for each example sentence: When did they make the decision? a) while they were speaking b) earlier.

3 .

Model & Drill - The teacher says one of the example sentences 2 or 3 times while the students quietly listen. Then, as a group, all the students repeat the sentence exactly as the teacher said it. Finally, the teacher invites individual students to repeat the example, with light correction if necessary.

4 .

Dot the Stress - While looking at the audio script and focusing on the underlined example sentences, the students listen again and put a circle above each word that is pronounced more loudly than the other words in that sentence.

5 .

Guess from Context - The students match the phrases they highlighted in the text with the following definitions.

  1. be quick to understand something ……………… (A: be on the ball)
  2. to ignore it when someone else does something bad ……………… (A: look the other way)
  3. to leave a place ……………… (A: make a move)
  4. to know something that only a group of people know ……………… (A: to be in the loop)
  5. etc.
6 .

Table Completion - The students write the example sentences (all using Present Continuous, eg. “Be quiet! I’m watching the news”) into the following table:
