TEFL Lesson Plans

Hi, I need to do an essay for uni and just wondered if you could please give me some advice as we have not actually been taught how to do a lesson plan! I've to do two lesson plans which are to be connected, both 60 mins each. One is to have language skills as the main aim and the other is to have an aspect of the language system as the main aim. I was thinking of doing either a vocabulary lesson with exercises and a bit of reading for the first lesson and for the second lesson getting the students to focus on writing and speaking, getting them to write a short presentation in pairs and then to present it to the class that way they practice their speaking too. Or my alternative plan was to do a lesson on teaching past simple questions and short answers with basic exercises and for the second lesson reinforcing the learning of the past simple questions and answers by doing a reading. Which one would be better? Thank you!!
