Tefl course - teaching young learners

Hi there can someone give me guidance on what action verbs i can use for a second year English class of 8 year olds.

I think run, swim, write, read - these are too simple and will have been taught in the first year.

I was thinking of bought, brought, etc - but is that too complex for 8 year olds?

I'm not sure... Can someone give some guidance please.
