TEFL Checkpoint 4 Q10

Hey guys,

Almost finished this checkpoint, just stuck with this question -

"Choose a song and think of 1 or 2 ideas how you could use it in a lesson with adult students. Include the relevant lyrics and explain what language point(s) or skill(s), in addition to listening, your students can practise with the help of the song and how they can practise them. What level of learner would you use the song for? Remember that it is a listening lesson, so they need to listen to the song at some point rather than simply read the lyrics. (Write 1 00-150 words apart from the song lyrics)"

I'm thinking of using The Gambler by Kenny Rogers because I don't wanna just use the examples already given in the module notes e.g. " A Hards Day's Night" for present perfect, "Yellow Submarine" for present simple and past simple" or any of the rest.

I was thinking The Gambler could help with past simple e.g.

"So I handed him my bottle and he drank down my last swallow

Then he bummed a cigarette and asked me for a light"

Or would you say this song is about giving advice? e.g. -

"You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away and know when to run
You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealing's done

Every gambler knows that the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to throw away and knowing what to keep
'Cause every hand's a winner and every hand's a loser
And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep"

Any advice would be great.
