In this day and age, spending a huge amount of time on social networks is considered a tendency of teenagers. This propensity nowadays seems to be the main reason which causes the arguments: some people think these platforms adversely affect teenagers while others believe students can enjoy much of the network’s benefits. In my opinion, establishing media both have advantages and disadvantages to teens who are at the young age and in this essay, I would attempt to shed light on some primary reasons to confirm the view more clearly.

Social networking sites definitely have a range of positive aspects. Firstly, there is no denying that social media is a network of communication. Teenagers can easily interact with their fellow students or their relatives thanks to such applications as text messaging, video calling and personal blogs. For instance, there are many students who are living overseas, meaning that they can’t communicate with their parents, sister face-to-face basically, hence, various apps video call features like Facebook, Zalo or Skype will be a convenient tool which makes this problem is just a piece of cake. In spite of living far away from home, relationships and acquaintance circles are still enhanced. Secondly, personally speaking, I think elaborate networks are also a means of entertainment-a key of stress relief. After a busy and tiresome day at school, many teenagers find it challenging to relax. On the web-based platform, a great deal of videos, songs and news are being uploaded as a duty to enchant users. On the basis of these helpful features, I would say with no doubt that the extensive network is not a bad choice for teens who are in need of relaxation as well as privacy.

However, unfortunately, social media is not completely beneficial because there are some shortcomings that should be taken into consideration. First and foremost, severe risks in the cyber world are inevitable. Distorted information appearing rampantly on social networking sites may lead to wrong attitudes or hostile reactions. Some people distort the news posted online on purpose to earn benefits from ill-informed people, typically celebrities. Teenager’s perceptions might be destructively influenced by incorrect information in social media. Moreover, the frauds and cyber bullies are also persistent issues nowadays on the account of personal information leaking by hackers. Last but not least, social networks are time-consuming, one reason behind this is the addiction to users-especially students who are at the adolescent age. Immersing in “virtual community” too long can lead to distraction from studying, this means students may not concentrate thoroughly at school and they may have poor performances. Networks are also a double-edged sword when threatening family bonds and social relationships between parents and children.

From the above-mentioned analysis, we can confirm that social networking sites present both perks and threats for children, as a result, teenagers should use networks moderately to avoid any inadequacy.
