Technical writing

Hi,

The following sentence #1 is from a technical journal. I am not sure about the underlined part. Sentence #2 is my version. Which one is better?

1. This consensus appears to be robust to different methodologies and length of data sample.

2. This consensus appears to be robust to different methodologies and the length of data samples.

Thanks,

MG.

#1 is 'science journal speak'. I spend a good bit of my time inserting at least a few definite and indefinite articles into journal pieces that are almost completely devoid of them.
