Technical drawing

I'm about to write descriptions in technical drawing. There I have a line with its dimension attached to it. And exactly this dimension has to be provided with some meaningful text.

In case the line would be 7 millimeters long I'd write "7 mm" without any doubts. However its length is 7 inches so should I write "7 inch" or "7 inches"?

Similarly for mils would you prefer "7 mil" or "7 mils"?
