Dear Teachers,

1. Korean movies are always tear-jerkers.

2. Korean movies are always sloppy movies.

To me, sentence 1 means that Korean movies have the ability to bring you to tears because they elicit strong emotion (usually sadness). Sentence 2 means that Korean movies are carelessly made.

The word 'tear-jerker' is basically used only one way, with one meaning.
