Teaching vocabulary

Hi everyone,

Can someone please help me? I am doing my first teaching lesson and I am stuck. This is because I am teaching elementary students but I have never met the before so have no idea of what they know. The activity I am doing is a gap-fill crossword. In pairs, A has the answer for B and B for A. They have to ask each other in order to get the answers. It is about sports, so I was thinking that maybe they should act out the sport, because they may not have learned the vocabulary to describe it or maybe they should just say the answer, but that is less interesting.

What do you think?

Hi, welcome to EnglishForward [<:o)] Well, you have never met them before ? A firston lesson should let you know on which level your students are. Just let them try to explain it with their grasp of vocabulary.

  • You can interrupt them if they don't know a word and support them.
  • Only if they are real beginners acting would be an alternative.
