Teachers are teaching to the tests.

This is a really bad thing — when the aim of teaching is not the knowledge of the essence of things but, rather, the score you'll get in a test (usually of the primitive multiple choice variety). The scary thing is, Russia's "intergration" with the West has led to the introduction of the so called Unique Exams which are nothing but a test, and rather dumb and sometimes absurd test in fact... Testing techniques are a hot topic in educational journals, but I think they are not anywhere close to the classical exam, when a student has a conversation with a teacher, not a computer.

Teaching to the test is teaching only the material that will be on the test, but not much more. It narrows the subject down to what the students have to know for the test, and it leaves out materials that may widen the students' horizons. Teaching to the test has become more of an issue in recent years as standardized testing and accountability have become more important for the accreditation and

Thank you, Anon. It seems like the word "test" should be written in singular.
