Teaching the Present Continuous

I don't know quite what you need, Alister, but it seems to me that present continuous is the easiest form to teach-- it is what we are doing at this moment.

What are you doing?
I am having an English lesson.
I am sitting at my desk.
I am holding my pencil in my right hand.

I need to present the situation and I do not how to present or make it

when i teach the Present Continuous tense (elemenentary level) I usually ue these easy steps:

1. Introduce/ review the Verb BE, in it's different forms..AM, IS, ARE ( Present Tense)

2. Introduce/revi Personal Pronouns, I , HE, SHE, IT, WE, YOU, THEY.

3. Explain/expound the relationship of these two (the verb BE and the Personal Pronouns) when used in a sentence and

That is nicely simple and straightforward, ayvied, but they are not gerunds (nouns):

5.Explain how to form the PRESENT PARTICIPLES: PARTICIPLES= VERB+ ING

i stand corrected Mr Micawber..yeah, since gerunds are nouns (in the form of Verb+ ing too)
but i should have said the Present Participle (Verb+ing) rather. Thanks
