Teaching english as a non-native and non TESL/TESOL certified

Hey everybody,

I am currently working as an English-to-French translator in shanghai. I've been thinking about teaching because it would leave me enough time to improve my chinese. I searched for a French teacher position, but it seems that it's not as wanted as English teachers are. So I changed my mind and search for a English teacher position.

The problem is that most of the ads I saw ask for native english speakers, and/or TESL/TESOL certified, which I am not. These training are quite expensive, and I'm planning to work just for one year as an english teacher, do you think it's worth going through the TESL/TESOL certifications ?

Emotion: smile
